I got a nice little break from my project work this week which gives me just enough time to write (about '??'). Its that time of the year when the guyz and galz into a relationship can oficially tell each other, how much do they love and care. All the fm station can go on playing all the love songs on the radio throughout this week (they always seem to find ways to keep the listeners interested.. somehow someway !! I am not a fan of fm though.. coz its more of talking and less of music). You will find movies on most of the TV channels that invariably end up glorifying love (10/10 times) with some extra-ordinary love stories (i dont hear them happening in real life though.. ) and you have the news channels showing some breaking news stories such as these .
MDTV : "Shiw-Sena members protest against the V'Day celebrations in mumbai. 6 people die in a clash between two groups."
AbTak : "JohnY Abraham gets the most number of V'Day wishes from his female fans."
cmm-ibm : Baal Thakday says "V'Day is not part of our culture.. It never was".
Irritating it is.. I said to myself, lightu teesuko (take light). but what do I hear today.. A girl commits suicide bcoz a guy doesn't accept her proposal on the V'Day ! To hear something like that.. it sucks. I wonder.. "What is the purpose of the V'Day ? Who is a valentine ? and What is this thing called Love ? Can we ever call it love when it takes someone's life. Does the V'Day has a meaning at all if it leads to violence and bloodshed. This is not love and certainly V'Day is not meant to create violence. How can it.. it is supposed to spread love. So.. Where does the problem lie ?
More often than not the four letter word called LOVE is mistaken (& misunderstood) by many and there lies the problem. Raj can say - "Tujhe dekha to ye jana sanam.." when he sees Simran, may be bcoz he really is in love wid that gal.. but what about those young adults who 'think' that they are in love, start going behind a girl today (and another tomorrow and yet another..) saying tujhe dekha to ye jana sanam. Somewhere else Anjali finds it difficult to tell her best friend Rahul that she loves him. How can she confuse friendship with love. Thats the worst (and the easiest) way of losing ur best friend ! (Of course.. some friendships end up in relationships.. an exception). And you have some other group of people who dont seem to find the meaning of true love unless they involve themselves in some insane (yes.. you read it right 'insane') private (and physical) activities !! Other extremes exist too like the ones who love selflessly ! Adithya can't (and will never be able to) tell Geet that he loves her. Some guys can never..
I don't give it a damn if JohnY Abraham gets the most number of V'Day wishes neither do I care if someone protests against V'Day celebrations. but if the V'Day starts to take someone's life bcoz of some silly misinterpretation of this thing called love, something has seriously gone wrong with the current generation. Everyone falls in love with something or someone at some point in his/her life. But If only the young adults understand the true meaning of love, you wouldn't find these suicide cases neither would you find the divorce cases surfacing every now and then among the love married couples. I am no LoVe GuRu to tell about love (neither have I ever been into a relationship), but I do have my own views about it. I seriously believe love in its purest form is always true. We love our dear ones and we shouldn't miss an opportunity to tell them the same (need not be only the gf/bf).
P.S. : The views expressed here are 'only mine' and I may be wrong !! Comments most welcome..

well...i know the whole argument abt the commercialization of valentine;s day...it being an imported concept and all that has been repeated a million times...so i wont say it all again..but i do think so!
this concept of love always confused me a lot...i feel life in practical is more than a love for one girl...if celebrating Vday is not our culture, i dont think destroying the property and hurting people is our culture too..may b all this need to b left to the individual discrimination..surely as an educated citizen we must give it a thought...anyways gr8 going!!!!!!
To madhumita gopalan..
I too think so. VDay is an imported concept.. But what makes me feel sad is that people tend to get misled often and forget the true meaning of LoVe..
To time pass,
true indeed..I think, love is the most powerful feeling thats gifted to human beings.
Yup! in a world like today! where Love has become a commodity! anything can happen in the name of Love and St,Valentine's day! Its all about being in love with love and not in person! people fall in love, but they never Rise!!! ( A quote Of My professor of English) so Even This too sHall Pass!
